CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol. It is a natural substance that, until a decade or so ago, was relatively unknown by the general public. CBD is separated and extracted from the Cannabis plant, the flowers of which (both hemp and marijuana) secret a sticky resin abundant in cannabinoids as well as terpenes and various other phytochemicals. When people think “cannabis” their immediate association is that it’s a plant with psychoactive properties (getting “high” or “stoned”). However, this is not the case when it comes to CBD. It’s important to understand that though CBD comes from the same plant family as marijuana, they are two completely different compounds and CBD will not make you feel “high.”
